Volunteer Opportunities at Charleston VAMC


 
Volunteer Desks Receptionists Volunteers will greet patients and visitors, offer directional assistance, and have the capability to look up the location of room numbers of inpatients.
Shuttle Cart Drivers These volunteers will drive a six passenger golf cart, shuttling patients from the parking lot to the main entrance.
Patient Advocate Assistants These volunteers will work closely with the Patient Advocates, assisting with survey data collection and data entry.
Pharmacy Assistants Volunteers will assist in distributing filled prescriptions to the patients as they wait in the designated sitting area and assist with window service.
Patient Escorts Assist the nursing staff by pushing wheelchairs and/or escorting one-to-one, patients to their clinic appointments, canteen, or outside on a pretty day.
Patient Feeders These volunteers receive special training to assist in improving the meal time experience for our Nursing Home and Alzheimers patients. Volunteers sit and chat, assist setting out meal trays, opening containers, or actually feeding some veterans.
